History

YWAM El Salvador was founded on June 10th, 2002 by a pioneer team of four people from Cartagena, Colombia. The aim was to set up a permanent YWAM base in El Salvador because it was the only Central American country with no base. We knew a base was needed to make a difference in El Salvador and for the nations.

We immediately began working with different churches and programs in El Salvador to assist them with ministries already in place. A Night Missions School (Escuela de Misiones Nocturna) was also established. This is a program that is for the community in San Salvador and the surrounding areas that focuses on training in personal growth as well as how to share Christ with others. The first Night School was in 2002 and since that time we have had 9 schools.

The first Discipleship and Training School (DTS) was held in 2003. Since that first DTS, we have had 14 others and reached many students as well as equipping them to serve the world.

Today we are still running our training programs, as well as reaching out to the people of El Salvador through Evangelism and Mercy Ministries.

Our mission

The mission of YWAM globally is To Know God, and To Make Him Known. For us as a base we personalize that statement by making it our mission to train, equip and mobilize as many individuals as possible in order to present Jesus as the only way of salvation, being an answer to the needs of physical, moral and spiritual of El Salvador and to the nations.
